Quick Tips for Success

Sometimes we don't want to read a full article to gain some insight. So here are a list of my common tips for students:

  1. Sleep! There's no point in losing sleep for school. It's eventually going to hurt your ability to retain or gather new information.
  2. Eat! Just like with sleep, don't choose school over eating properly. Eating properly can be great for your mind and help you stay focused.
  3. Take a second! Before rushing into blindly answering the question, try to be mindful of what you're doing and what you already know. It could save you a bunch of time later!
  4. Always double-check! It's so easy to make small mistakes without realizing it. It doesn't mean we don't know what's going on. Small mistakes happen, we might as well be able to recognize them.
  5. Take a break! If you're getting stuck on something, take a break. A break can help clear your mind a bit so that you can think of different ways of tackling the question.
  6. Trust yourself! Confidence makes a huge difference on being able to answer a question. So many small mistakes can come from just not trusting what you know.
  7. It's okay to fail! Failing can suck, but the best thing you can do is learn from it. It can be a great time to reflect on what you know, what you like and what you want to do, and then make some pretty incredible changes.
  8. Find your study sweet spot! When it comes to studying, we are all different on what works best for us. Take some time to figure that out, especially when it comes to how much you study.
  9. Everyone has their strengths! There will be people who will naturally be able to understand certain topics like math, but that doesn't mean you can't understand those topics. It may just take time and that's okay.
  10. Take time to learn who you are! This is an important one. Knowing who are will help throughout your learning as you'll figure out what you truly love, decisions will become easier, and you can easily figure out where you're specifically struggling.
